Initial consultation

During a therapy consultation, we want to see if we're a good fit. During the 30-minute consultation, we'll assess your level of comfort with working with me, and our conversation, giving you an idea of whether you can envision open and meaningful discussions about important and challenging topics in our future conversations. Recognizing the importance of choosing the right therapist, I prioritize initial consultations to ensure a positive and mutually beneficial therapeutic relationship

This streamlined process ensures clarity and convenience as we move forward in our therapeutic journey.

Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Therapists integrate therapeutic writing, narrative writing, poetry, drama, movement, visual art, and music into appropriate sessions to assist clients who are having difficulty recognizing and expressing emotion as well as meeting their needs. Individuals do not have to be "artistic" in order to benefit from expressive art therapy. This is beneficial for those are would prefer to use creative expression in their process and to have deeper insight and make meaning of their truths in life.

Brainspotting Therapy

Brainspotting is a gentle flow rapid change, brain-body healing therapy that thrives on the intuitive, uncertain, and attuned relationship between client and therapist. Brainspotting is a relational, neurobiological, and mindfulness-based approach so that clients can receive and process information readily. Brainspotting allows you to reach certain areas of your brain and aids in the integration of content or manifestations of earlier occurrences. Some clients will notice a difference earlier in sessions, than traditional or cognitive therapy models, and others may require longer therapy, depending on the presenting issue.

Brainspotting can be conducted with individuals, young children, couples and groups. For more information watch this video of Dr. David Grand. For more information watch my BSP demos on Youtube.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movements, bilateral sound, and tapping techniques to interrupt and re-pattern trauma-related symptoms or manifestations. EMDR allows clients to reprocess and desensitize traumatic material by accessing areas of the brain and employing embodied experiences. EMDR helps clients integrate traumatic, painful, and unpleasant life experiences in a more adaptive way.

Emotionally Focused Therapy for Individuals & Couples

Often regarded as a short-term practice for individual and couples therapy, is a structured approach that was originally developed for couple therapy and is based on attachment science, which was first proposed in the 1980s. It has since grown in scope, and its methodology is easily compatible with multiple humanistic approaches for individuals, couples, and families. The goal is to reorganize emotional experiences utilizing particular strategies immediately in the session using experiential and humanistic techniques. EFT has a 70% success rate when used primarily or integrative with other approaches.

Who We Serve

Modern Scribble Line

A therapist's clinical focus or special interest indicates that they have chosen to specialize in a specific area, population, or approach within the field of counseling and psychotherapy. These specializations are obtained through additional training, experience, or a personal interest in a particular aspect of mental health or therapy. Therapists with a clinical focus or special interest may have extensive knowledge and experience with specific issues, populations (such as children, couples, or trauma), or therapeutic modalities. This specialization enables them to provide more targeted and effective support to clients dealing with specific concerns related to their clinical focus.

Personality Disorder Traits are enduring patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that significantly deviate from cultural expectations, are pervasive, and lead to functional impairment or distress. These traits can cause significant difficulties in relationships, self-image, and managing daily life. Personality disorder traits can sometimes make it challenging for people to navigate their emotions, relationships, and sense of self. These patterns might include difficulty managing strong emotions, feeling a constant need for reassurance, or struggling with self-image. It’s important to remember that these are not character flaws, but patterns that can be understood and gently supported through compassionate therapy.

PERSONALITY DISORDER TRAITS

Our personal experiences are heavily emphasized in our relationships and connections with others. It reflects, like a flame, our upbringing, unconscious, and interior spheres of identities, values, and pursuits. We all want to feel connected and to be a part of something. We want to go into the depths of who we are and be pushed into other parts of ourselves through our connections. Every one of us has a story that influences the strength of those connections. Are you in a new or long-term relationship? Have you or your partner been experiencing emotional distress, preoccupied with fears, and questioning your worth? Are you avoiding bringing up topics that matter to you? Are you looking to expand your relationship and foster better communication? Are dealing with relational dynamics within the family tree?

COUPLES & MULTIPLE PARTNER RELATIONSHIPS

A traumatic incident or event can have a range of effects. When you have a series of stressful incidents, it might have long-term and adverse implications on your life. It has the potential to influence your feelings, thoughts, relationships, habits, attitudes, dreams, and hopes. Three primary factors can have an impact on how you react to distressing occurrences. Have you been directly or indirectly affected by a traumatic event, or have you been a witness to one? Do you frequently find yourself in situations where you may see painful or stressful events? Are you looking to do inner child work or parts work? Do you feel like you experienced dissociative symptoms? Have you experienced identity-based traumatic experiences?

About Intensives Therapy

How can intensive therapy help?

Intensive psychotherapy is a relatively short-term dynamic psychotherapy that gives clients faster results, and full resolution for sudden or persistent issues in a short period of time. Intensive psychotherapy is a revolutionary approach that provides immediate relief from suffering, symptom relief, and a thorough understanding of oneself. What distinguishes my therapy process is the use of holistic assessments and an intensive approach that relies on a range of modalities for maximum impact. This unique strategy allows targeted and effective interventions to support your individual journey to well-being and growth.

Somatic-Embodied, EMDR, EFT and Brainspotting brain-body therapies for "rewiring" and changing the neurons in your brain. In the process, engage your body's physical feelings/sensations as well as your natural wisdom. Intensives not just for targeting traumatic or distressing experiences, yet it can enhance creativity, confidence, emotional and psychological resilience, performance and overall wellbeing.

An intensive approach can function in ways that typical continuous therapeutic approaches lack. An Intensive session allows you to access considerably more personal material, which can be processed and repaired much faster than in traditional weekly therapy. The work is definitely intensive and concentrated with rapid relief. Intensives are not appropriate for everyone, so I have planned 30-minute virtual consultations to assess clients' readiness for intensive work.

About Adjunct Therapy

How can adjunct therapy complement my ongoing treatment with my primary therapist?

Adjunct therapy is designed to complement your primary therapy by introducing specialized modalities to address areas where your treatment may have become stagnant or less effective. Typically, adjunct therapy is a short-term commitment, spanning 6-12 sessions targeting specific issues. For clients dealing with prolonged exposure to traumatic or distressing experiences, a longer-term approach of more than 12 sessions may be beneficial.

How does the collaboration between the primary therapist and the adjunct therapist work to enhance my therapy progress?

Adjunct therapy does not replace your primary therapy sessions but rather enhances your overall treatment success by collaborating with both your primary therapist and an adjunct therapist simultaneously. This approach is not intended to replace or interrupt ongoing therapy; instead, it aims to enrich the primary therapeutic process. Clients who receive adjunct therapy continue their regular sessions with their primary therapist. When the primary therapist and client work together with an adjunct therapist, this collaboration can often help move therapy forward. This joint effort targets specific goals related to memories, physiological sensations, or limiting beliefs. The benefits of adjunct therapy include accelerating progress, resolving stuck areas, and enriching ongoing therapy by carefully addressing traumatic memories or intrusive material.

Benefits:

  • Speeds up therapeutic progress.
  • Helps resolve stuck areas in therapy.
  • Enriches ongoing therapy by targeting specific traumatic memories or intrusive materia

What is the structure of KAP Therapy.

First, a initial consultation is to discuss the this form therapy, expectations, answer any questions you may have, and assess if this approach is a good fit for you. After the consultation, you will schedule an appointment with a qualified medical prescriber for a medical evaluation and development of a treatment planning to determine eligibility. KAP Treatment consists of three main components: preparation, dosing, and integration. Preparation involves 45-50 minute psychotherapy sessions focused on setting goals and building therapeutic trust.
